Meetings

Nutley's governing bodies meet in public, and most of their meetings include a period for public comment.

Who meets, and when

• Board of Commissioners (BOC): the township's governing body, which adopts ordinances and redevelopment plans. First and third Tuesday of every month, 7:00 PM.
• Planning Board: reviews site-plan applications and land-use questions. Meets as its agenda requires rather than on a fixed date.
• Board of Education (BOE): governs the school district. One or two Monday evenings a month at Nutley High School, with worksessions in the Media Center and open public meetings in the Auditorium. A worksession is a discussion meeting where the board takes no votes; an open public meeting is where it acts. Schedule and documents: boe.nutleyschools.org.

Township meetings are not at Town Hall right now. The Commission Chambers at 1 Kennedy Drive are under renovation, and every township meeting has been held at Parks & Recreation, Room 201, 44 Park Avenue since February 6, 2026. Each meeting has a page on the township site carrying its agenda, the ordinances and resolutions up for a vote, the bill list, and, once posted, a link to the video. The August 18 Board of Commissioners meeting is there now.
